Our wedding day begins with the Poruwa ceremony, held at an auspicious nekath time according to Sinhala Buddhist tradition. On the beautifully decorated Poruwa, we step onto the platform together, exchange vows, tie our little fingers, offer betel to our elders, and light the oil lamp, invoking blessings for a long, harmonious married life surrounded by our closest family and friends.
Following the Poruwa ceremony, please join us for a celebratory luncheon. Enjoy a generous Sri Lankan spread of rice and curry, along with a selection of other favourite dishes and sweets, as we share our first meal as husband and wife. This is a relaxed time to sit, talk, and laugh together with family and friends while soft music sets the mood for the celebrations ahead.
Our reception is where the celebration comes alive. After the formal rituals, we'll make our entrance, greet each of you, and capture photos before cutting the cake. A live DJ will keep the energy high with Sinhala, Tamil, Hindi, and English music — including Baila (upbeat Sri Lankan dance music) — as we open the dance floor.
We close the day with Mangala Sabhawa — a traditional blessing ceremony where we receive well-wishes from elders, family, and friends. Following custom and the auspicious nekath, we gather your blessings before we take our leave. With grateful hearts, we bid you farewell as we begin our married life together.

Royal Ramesses hosts several events on the same day. Look for the vertical sign at the main lobby listing all weddings — find Skylar Princess Banquet and follow the directions to the 2nd floor. If you need help, just ask any hotel staff.
